Charity Digital Training Announcement
Strengthen Your Charity’s Cyber Security with Delta Cyber Security's Training Workshop
As cyber threats continue to evolve, no organisation, big or small, is immune to potential attacks. This is especially true for charities, which are increasingly becoming targets for cyber criminals. In fact, the UK Government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2024 found that 32% of charities experienced a cyber attack in the last 12 months. Without the right protections in place, charities risk facing data breaches, financial losses, and damage to their reputation.
So, how can you protect your charity from the growing threat of cyber crime?
Delta Cyber Security is partnering with Charity Digital to offer an interactive Cyber Essentials training programme designed specifically for charities. This practical workshop will help you understand how to implement basic cyber safeguards and defend your organisation against cyber attacks.
Why is Cyber Essentials Important for Charities?
The Cyber Essentials scheme, backed by the UK government, provides a simple but effective framework for safeguarding against the most common cyber threats. It’s designed to help businesses and charities put in place basic controls to protect their data, networks and systems.
With more charities going digital and handling sensitive data, Cyber Essentials certification is an essential step in demonstrating your commitment to cyber resilience. Plus, it’s not just about compliance, it’s about reducing your risk of a breach and ensuring your organisation’s ongoing security.
What Will You Learn in This Hands-On Workshop?
This three-hour training session is split into two interactive sessions, each designed to give you practical insights and actionable strategies to improve your charity’s cyber security. Here’s what you can expect:
Session 1: Foundations of Cyber Security & the Cyber Essentials Framework
Overview of Cyber Essentials: Why it matters and how it works
Firewalls explained: Setting up your first line of defence
Secure configuration best practices for devices and systems
Update management: The importance of staying up to date with software and system updates
Break (20 minutes)
Session 2: Cyber Essentials Framework Continued & Cyber Security Hack Simulation
Malware protection: How to spot threats and defend against them
User Access Controls: Safeguarding sensitive data by managing user permissions
Interactive Group Activity – The Hack Simulation: In this hands-on exercise, you will simulate an attack and work with others to compromise a business email account. This session allows you to:
Step into the shoes of an attacker and learn how accounts get compromised
Understand how attackers use open-source information and tools
Learn the steps needed to prevent such incidents in your organisation
By the end of this workshop, you’ll have practical knowledge and tools to apply immediately, helping you defend against common threats and strengthen your charity’s security posture.
About Your Trainer: Matthew Musto
The session will be led by Matthew Musto, Delta Cyber Security’s Chief Information Officer (CIO). Matthew is a seasoned expert in cyber security, with nearly two decades of experience across both the corporate sector and the UK Ministry of Defence. He has worked with major organisations like Grant Thornton and Blue Cross UK, helping them safeguard their sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry standards.
With Matthew’s deep knowledge and approachable teaching style, you’ll leave the session with a clear understanding of how to improve your charity’s cyber security.
Who Should Attend?
This workshop is ideal for charity leaders, IT officers, and anyone interested in enhancing their organisation’s cyber security practices. No prior technical knowledge is required—just a commitment to learning and improving your charity’s digital defences. The training offers a supportive environment for asking questions and discussing cyber security challenges specific to your charity.
